Your home, their safe place

Do you love cats but don’t want the full time commitment of a pet? Then consider fostering! Your role as a volunteer would be to provide a loving, secure, safe place for cats and kittens to live until a permanent home can be found.

MUST HAVES

Be at home the majority of the day
Have a spare room
Have written permission from your landlord if renting, or provide proof of it in your rent agreement.
Willingness to follow RSPCA guideline and policies.
An understanding of cat behaviour
Good communication and record keeping skills.
Access to a car

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The average stay in a foster home is 3-6 weeks. Kittens average up to 9 weeks. The branch will supply equipment, food and litter. Most animals on foster will be advertised for adoption. All potential adopters must speak to the rehoming coordinator to assess their suitability before a reserve can be placed.

Fosterers must not promise animals to friends/family/others as the branch has the final decision of who will adopt.

Animals must stay at the address provided. Cats must not be allowed outside. It is the fosterers responsibility to make sure rooms are secure and steps taken to prevent escape.

Animals must only be taken to our nominated vet, even in an emergency. All medical decisions, fees and treatments are the responsibility of the branch.

Private information, including the history of the animal must not be shared. Photos, videos and details of the animal must not be shared on social media with the exception to our closed fosterers group.

We will be in regular weekly contact to check a foster animals progress and discuss issues or concerns.

You will required to fill in observations sheets and reports for animals in foster care.

The fosterer cannot adopt until they have fostered at least 3 cats.

All purchases made by the fosterer must be authorised by the RSPCA Nottingham and Notts Branch. We will not reimburse unauthorised spending
