Winnie was signed over to a local officer when her owner could no longer care for her. She had scabby skin due to an uncontrolled flea problem and although her fur is still thin, it’s growing back nicely!
Here’s what Winnie’s lovely foster carers have to say about her:
Winnie is the perfect cat! She is so lovely and kind and friendly, loves lots of fuss and snuggles! She is like a little lap cat and would sit and snuggle all day if you let her. She has the sweetest personality and loves to greet you. Once she makes her bond she is your best friend and little shadow. Winnie is brilliant with children also and very soft and gentle around them. We would describe her as a dog version of a cat. She has all the perks of a dog but with her own Independence. We have experience of cats and have to say without a doubt she is the kindest most friendly one we have had the pleasure of having. She likes to say hello with her gentle meow when she sees you after her naps and in the morning. She isn’t a fan of being picked up but will always come over to you. Loves playing with rattle balls and feather snake toys. She would be perfect for a family who are at home as she just loves to be loved.
Winnie was used to living with dogs and other cats BUT anyone with existing pets would need to facilitate a very slow, gradual introduction, be mindful of the disruption and Winnie would need to be securely kept in for 6 weeks. Just because she’s lived with other pets, like us humans, the dynamics between animals are the same…you like some people, love others and can’t get on with more still!
Winnie is affectionate, she’s energetic and investigative! She could live with children aged 6 and over. However please remember, our adoption times are during school hours and this can prove problematic. We’re not a rehoming centre therefore have to move animals from boarding or foster to visit and this means adoptions at between 11am and 2pm Mon – Fri.
If you like your cats full of beans, with a affectionate temperament and an ‘into EVERYTHING’ outlook, you may be the right person for Winnie.
A bit more about Winnie & the home she wants.
- Winnie will need to be kept in and she is quick so windows and doors will need to be kept closed.
-
We think Winnie would like a home where someone is around for most of the day.
- She is affectionate but her signature wriggle comes to fore when you try to cuddle her!
- We would like Winnie to be able to have safe access to outdoors to explore after he has settled. This may be supervised, via a cat flap or through a catio. We don’t rehome to properties very near or on major roads, train or tram lines unless the cat is indoors for reasons such as being deaf or blind or they have always been an indoor cat.
- Winnie would possibly be OK with a cat friendly dog or another cat with a slow introduction.
About adoption – Important bits, we are not a rehoming centre so please read the following.
Adoption is by appointment only.
We don’t have animals on premises here, Winnie will be brought to meet you by prior appointment.
You need to have access to a vehicle to visit us twice, once to meet and greet, the other to adopt. This is particularly important if you are travelling any distance.
Adoption appointments are made between 11am and 2pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday. Sorry but we can’t do evenings or weekends.
Due to not having animal holding on premises, we have to schedule the logistics of adoption appointments, hence the somewhat strict sounding procedure. This can prove problematic when school age children are involved as our process is quite restrictive time wise.
Our priority is securing the right home for Winnie.
Applications are received and we will go with the first application to meet Winnie’s needs. If you are not successful regarding adoption it’s no slight, we can only choose one home.
Fill in the form below to express your interest and our rehoming coordinator will be in touch.
Please remember – Our fostering and rehoming coordinator, Emily, is on holiday, so viewings will not be arranged until Emily returns on 3rd November.
